Aphrodite is an experiment in which the artist sought to see what would happen if a Möbius strip was placed on a female torso. Here, as in all other purely abstract forms, edges and lines play the role of a guide. Concave and convex shapes, tension and relaxation alternate and make Aphrodite alluring. She is tall and elegant, yet Rubenesque and irresistible in her curves. This new idea finally opened the door to figuration in Hohla’s work and, as such, already marked the artist’s further direction in which he will reveal his forms only partially in the form of a woman merged with an organic shape.
